----- Bar Chords. No Open Strings ----- For most people, to bar is the hardest thing that they ever have to learn on the guitar. Practice the barre as a series of steps: 1. Position the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers, and not the first. 2. Straighten the 1st finger, bending the wrist as necessary. 3. Place it near the fret, straight, and parallel to it. 4. Putting a knuckle between strings most needing pressure. 5. Apply pressure slowly, keeping the other fingers in place. When you fail start over. Don't struggle with a barre already down. The strings marked "x" are not allowed to sound. 3=G means that at the tenth fret the chord is G. % = repeat measure sign.
